onlineSTS.net Information System (OSIS) publish STS regional statistical data
onlineSTS.net Information System OSIS publishes, for the first time after its formation, regional statistical data with respect to participating vessel performance. This is the first time such consolidated data are produced on the basis of the post assessments received by members of the onlinests.net. The assessment data received include evaluations from all members that participate in both the STS screening and STS Assessment services.
On Table 1, the outcome of the statistics for all STS REGIONS is shown with respect to the average performance of participating vessels associated to Maneuvering, Mooring Lines, etc.
On Table 2, the STS Regions have been ranked with respect to average vessel performance as well as fender selection compliance in conjunction with the number of STS Operations conducted in the relevant region.
The objective of this analysis is to assist Ship Owners in their STS risk analysis when they plan STS Operations in those regions. More analytical data are available only for members of onlineSTS.net. The presented data are associated to assessments received up to 17/01/2013; however OSIS is dynamic and as more data enter the database then the statistical output will be adjusted accordingly.
Although STS Operations are considered safe operations, we have noticed that a large number of near misses or minor incidents occur. It is strongly recommended for technical operators to provide adequate resources and means to support masters with prudent technical analysis and proposals for risk mitigation measures.
Although the percentages shown on both below tables are towards the best performance (100%), those should be considered in conjunction with all associated parameters that control the performance of the STS operation.
onlineSTS.net would like to thank in this respect the participating companies at OSIS, whose commercial profile and reputation is enhanced through this service.
