DYNAMARINe Academy Training Course: NAVIGATION ASSESSOR 29 APRIL, 2022

Course aim and objectives: The course complements the maritime assessor training by providing additional knowledge for learning the skills and becoming qualified in conducting on-the-job assessment techniques on key elements of technical seafarer skills by rank combined with assessment of behavioral bridge team competencies for proactive identification of gaps and training needs as well as improvement of navigation skills, overall navigation safety performance and competency standards of the bridge team members.

Course main elements:

• Organizing navigation competency assessments
• Identifying and setting assessment objectives, conditions and standards
• Navigation Assessment methods and techniques
• Performing on the job Navigation behavioral competency assessments
• Performance measurement of behavioral competencies
• Identification of potential gaps and training needs
• Development and implementation of a performance improvement plan
• Workshops and final examination

Course duration: 1 day This training program is provided in 6-hours with real time instruction through zoom platform in a pre-scheduled interactive learning session

Participation: The course is open to shipping company managers, superintendents, fleet trainers, assessors and seafarers who need to understand how to best participate and implement the Behavior Based Safety programs. This training is open to shipping company marine managers, fleet superintendents, internal auditors, bridge team senior members as well as office personnel responsible for conducting navigation competency assessments for improving performance. Participants, for successful completion of the course and achieving a certificate of completion as Navigation Assessors, are required to prepare and submit during the training a navigation assessment plan and program for verification of performance standards of the bridge team members.
