Is onlineSTS.net another Vetting Scheme for Tanker Ships?

OnlineSTS.net is not another vetting scheme for Tanker vessels.?

OnlineSTS.net should be considered instead, as a data providing scheme which assists Tanker operators in ensuring safety in STS operations with a transparent procedure.

This service does not set standards; Industry guidelines and MARPOL set the standards. Tanker owners set out their STS policies, and the onlineSTS.net service implements such policies.

The service assists tanker owners to ensure that requirements are diligently fulfilled, while providing the ability to prove that they do so, during TMSA audits. DYNAMARINe believes in the value of the concept and supports quality of shipping through memberships and incentives at organisations such as HELMEPA, INTERTANKO and the GREEN AWARD.

Can you refer to your DYNAMARINe's background and capabilities in Ship to Ship transfer activities?

DYNAMARINe has a presence of 15 years. After 2007 the company entered the Ship to Ship transfer services which eventually led in the onlineSTS.net service since 2010. The onlineSTS.net service started as a vision in order to cover a gap in the industry, associated with due diligence practices, mainly exercised by Tanker Operators.

Transparent STS Policies are being established by onlineSTS.net members

There is network of experts and industry stakeholders who contribute with their capacity in the procedures developed by the service. The Ship-to-Ship industry is currently under fine tuning. DYNAMARINe adapts onlineSTS.net to latest industry requirements in order to provide a state of the art service to Tanker Operators and associated organisations.

Part of the onlineSTS.net service is enhanced by the consolidated statistics of OSIS database in order to establish a risk assessment for the Tanker Operator.

Are these services popular in Tanker Operators?

DYNAMARINe offers a wide range of services for Ship-to-Ship transfer such as vessel screening, risk assessment, training, drills and dedicated vessel inspections for defining a gap analysis on STS requirements. As an example, we recently announced a simulator based training for seafarers and Mooring Masters, in association with TSAKOS Group state of the art simulator.

In the onlineSTS.net project, a large number of reputable companies have trusted the service. Although the Greek market is very important and has a big share of the client list, shipping is a worldwide market and the focus is to earn the trust of international STS industry stakeholders.

We consider the onlineSTS.net members as part of a bigger movement towards enhancing safety and quality standards and thus it is a strategic decision to have a worldwide presence. It is believed that this will benefit all existing participants at the service.

Does the onlineSTS.net Service come into conflict with other physical STS Service Providers?

The answer is negative. The service starts when nominated vessels are proposed by charterers to Tanker owners for a possible, not yet confirmed STS operation. At this stage, no physical STS service providers (who provide fenders, hoses, Mooring Masters) have yet been appointed or assigned. However, at this stage, the Tanker owner has to make and justify his decision when providing his consent on nominated vessel suitability for the STS operation. There is when onlineSTS.net service commences its assignment, which is completed with the feedback from the Master of our client.

?OSIS database of onlineSTS.net is being fed by Post STS assessments from Masters. The database is registered and complies with the EU regulations for personal and sensitive data protection.
